What is a good rate for art lessons?

A close friend wants to hire me to give her daughter art lessons 2 times a week. I am a college art student and went to a high school for visual arts, so I have a few years of experience with various mediums. Ive also had my art in shows. Although I dont have a degree but I have good experience, how much should I charge for a 2 hour lesson 2 days a week?

The plural form of medium is media. Be sure you sound experienced, then charge $20 a day.

What types of jobs are there involving visual arts? i'm chosing my future so please help?

i gotta chose what i want to be and what school i'm aiming to go but all i know is that it has to do with visual arts, i just dont want to make a decision and then find out that theres something way better that i didnt know about the whole time. hopefully something that will pay alot of money?

Don't choose based on what will make you a lot of money. Choose based on what drives you. You can't create good art unless you have some passion. And you can't have passion without caring fully. The money and position will take care of itself if you put out good quality work. Whether it's graphic design, illustration, fine art, etc.

Which art major would be the better choice?

I am a high school senior and plan to study at an art university. My number one choice is Savannah College of Art and Design, and I have applied to Pratt Institute, School of Visual Arts and College for Creative Studies in my home city. So far, on all my apps I have chosen animation as my major field of interest, though torn between animation and illustration. However, I have realized that illustrators often gain the oppurtunity of working in the animation field. I'm also a writer and wish to pursue this as well. Which would be the better career option? Animator or illustrator?

It sounds like you would probably have more options if you chose animation as you major. You could always take a minor in something like creative writing which would leave the writing option open. If you studied only writing and illustration the entire animation world would be closed to you because you wouldn't learn the necessary skills to work in that industry.

I need to make atleast 50 stickers for an art project due in a week. What's the best way to do it?

I am a sophomore at the School of Visual Arts in NYC and I got assigned to do a project in a week and the only things I can find online for making custom stickers take too long. I really like my idea for the project [which will eventually be put onto youtube] and I need help! Please give me all your best, but fast, suggestions!

Get yourself a roll of wide clear plastic parcel tape and make transfers with it. Just stick it over an image cut from a magazine and burnish with a spoon, then wet the back and rub off the paper backing and you have a transfer, then coat with double sided tape to make a sticker.

Alternatively just print your images and put double sided sticky paper on the back, cover with waxed paper so it is removable and cut to shape, presto stickers. Double sided tape comes in up to A4 sized sheets at a papercrafts store.

hi, i would like to attend FIT or the school of visual arts for commercial/advertising art as my major in fall ‘09. any suggestions? i’m completely lost.

If you go to their websites, they have portfolio requirements for each program. Once you know the requirements, talk to your school’s art teacher for their opinion on how to make your portfolio.

what are some visual art related careers that have high salaries?

im into art.. sometimes i feel like i dont wanna go into the art field because most of the jobs have low salaries… im still in high school but i feel like i need to decide what im going to do because i will be graduating in 2 years..im taking different art related courses to see what im more interested in. i like visual arts but i find media arts really boring sometimes. are there any exciting careers related to visual art that are HIGH in salary?

Graphic Design – like the other person said – but more specifically computer animation is huge and is only going to grow bigger (can we say Pixar?)

Also, photography. You can do very well as a freelance photographer. (Can we say Patrick Demarchelier?) You can travel and work for all different types of companies too!

Its for a resource folder im making for my diploma and i need idea’s on visual art experiences for infants, toddlers and school agers.

oh! in the summer, i took a visual arts class! so for toddlers,i would do the thing that i know attracts them the most, finger painting! for school agers, have them do a sculpture made of clay. Also have them do a mural! =]

Well I've been looking at art collages I found the NY School of Visual Arts and one in Japan. I'm Interested in Graphic Noveling so…any suggestions???

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago is considered one of (if not the) best art school in the country.

btw it's art college not collage, lol!
