i'm going into my senior year of high school and want to pursue fashion merchandising, i want to stay in the northeast because i'm from CT and don't want to go very far from home, no more than 3 hours. i have a 3.4 gpa and dont want a very tiny school.

I´m looking for an A.S. degree, diploma, certificate or course on Fashion Design, or fashion merchandising, fashion retail, or any of these, as long as related to fashion. Can anyone please give some reference and personal experience while taking any of these online?

Hi, I’m looking for a fashion design/ merchandising school in FL, I’m really considering IADT but I’m not reading excellent things about it. Can anyone please recommend any other good schools in FL?

If you seriously want to go places with fashion design, forget FL. You have to get into one of the major design schools or you are going nowhere but the shop floor of the local department store.

I want to work with fashion. I was thinking of being buyer for a store but im not sure exactly what I want to do yet. But to get into a good school for fashion what are the requirements? Like what grades do you need and are there certain classes or internships you need to get in? And also what are some good schools?

Most colleges that offer fashion merchandising are art/fashion institutes that require portfolios to get into.

That said, there are some “normal” colleges that offer good programs. If you are unsure of portfolio stuff– Academy of Art University has a 100% admission rate and FIDM has a fairly simple portfolio.

I'm currently a junior at a competitive university with a major in both economics and management. I was interested in applying my business knowledge to the fashion industry. I'm not very artsy… never really did sketches and I don't have a portfolio, but I'm pretty good with colors and textiles and I'm a fast learner. I was wondering if there was a grad program or should I get my MBA and then go back to art or fashion school? Are there programs for people like me?

If you want to work in the business of the fashion industry, your business degree will probably be sufficient. And an MBA is one of the most valuable graduate degrees you can have when considering the return on your investment.

I'm a graduate of Indiana University and there is a fashion merchandising program there. While a student at IU, lots of merchandising companies, like major department stores, did lots of recruiting at the business school. Unless you are really sure of what graduate school in a fashion or art program will do for you, it seems much wiser to continue your business education and make your path into fashion through that route.
