Is Art Institute California Design College any good?

I am looking into design schools to attend so that I can get a foundation in design (for my GD career). A lot of the good ones require a portfolio (which I don’t have) so I need to find schools that don’t have that as a entry requirement. One of the one’s I found is Art Institute California Design College. Anybody know if this school is any good?

I know it's a little pricey. I think it is in LA. You might want to request some information on them, and maybe check rate my professor?

I am 15 years old and know I want to go to an art school. I am pretty sure I will focus on photography and graphic design. I live in Wisconsin but would really like to go to Southern California. Which art school should I go to? Also, Do you think I could graduate from high school my junior year? I am smart, organized, and very mature for my age. Please help me out!!! Thanks!

That is a very common question and I don't want to stress it enough please do not try to graduate your junior year.. if you feel that you're to far ahead take AP classes which will give you college credit and a great challenge and it will look well on your college applications! I suggest for choosing colleges… go to www.collegeboard.com and click on college match maker… it will really help you find all the colleges in the area you like also with the major and it will show what you need to get in. where are the performing arts school colleges in california?

I think you're having a hard time finding a program because you're complicating your simple search for a "college dance program" with the excess "performing arts school" words. A college dance program doesn't have to be contained within a "performing arts school" such as Juilliard. Places like Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Long Beach have decent dance programs.

During the last days of October this year(2008) we had an art festival at my university. As it is an art school it is most fitting. This is many months after the last video (six of them) so things have changed so much. Sorry if this video is of a poorer quality. I was having difficulty with keeping the quality while changing the aspect ratio to have square pixels. Next time I will keep it at 1.2 long pixels for the 16×9 aspect ratio.

which culinary school is better california culinary academy,the art institute or the kitchen academy?

They are in Los Angeles and i am not trying to go very far.

I'm a graduate of the California Culinary Academy. And no, it's not in Los Angeles. It's in San Francisco. I do not recommend this school to anyone. They seem more interested in collecting tuition money than actually teaching.

Housing is located in the Tenderloin – a drug and homeless infested area of San Francisco. I've seen shoot-outs, crack head smoking up at the bus stop right outside the front door, people droping the pants to use the bathroom where ever they please, and cops shake down drug dealers for their drugs.

The food that's served to the students is horrible. They don't practice any of the food handling you learn about in the safety and sanitation course. Cold things aren't kept cold, hot things are kept hot. There was a food-illness outbreak that got 40 people sick.

I've had a chef instructor insult me and the rest of the class on the first day. A friend of mine had a butchery chef who liked to throw raw chicken at students when he got upset.

The only way to fail your classes is to not show up. I got an A in a class that I honestly should have recieved a C. That same instructor and five others, including the Master Chef, were fired for cheating on an ethics test.

I think you can find a better way to spend 50 Grand.

I don't recommend The Kitchen Academy either. They were a little too small for me. Certification is only available.

Out of the three schools you have listed, I would look into The Art Institute.

Whats is a GREAT art school in New York for photography, film, and fashion?

Im moving back to New York next year around this time, and I really need to find a college to go to. Im already taking some classes up at Valley College here in California, but I need to know about an art school, the BEST one, or at least ONE of the best. Not to mention an apratment. I remember when I used to live there in Brooklyn, The Bronx, and Harlem, the rent was ridiculous, but now its just insane! Anyone know about apartments and art schools, please help out, I'd really appreciate it. An art school for photography, film, fashion, and writing, and an apartment. HELP ME! Thanks.

The best school for all three artistic endeavors is Parsons school of design(this is the same school that hosts Project Runway). Being one of the best if not the best means that it is not cheap and it is not exactly easy to get into. However, if you think rent is insane in New York, wait till you find out about the tuition fees at Parsons.
