The entertainment business is requiring more and more "perfect bodies every day". If you are a good actress but you are not slim, may be you can be "good at character roles".

In My Opinion you are not fat, 35" 30" 35" is not a slim model type but you are not a fat woman. However, you will fit better the costumes if you are slim or skinny. I have never being slim in my life, my body type is same as yours.

I had a problem just once. I made an audition for a new Opera in Puerto Rico, every body loved my voice but they though I did not have the "right look" for the role. I was too short, too dark and too fat for the role. At the end they call me and gave me the role any way! So as you see even in the Opera world we face these problems too.

If you are planning to lose weight then my advice is to do it in a healthy way. You can walk every day, to walk is an excellent aerobic exercises and that will help you with your stamina on stage, eat healthy, drink water, do some stretch exercises every day, to be flexible on stage is good thing. I would recommend you to do PILATES, that is an excellent exercises to make your body strong, burn calories, look better and feel better.

Please don't stop eating, just modify your diet.

If you think to lose weight will help you in your acting, then go for it girl!

Almost all state universities in Ohio have fine arts schools where you can major in a particular type of art. The larger universities will offer more different types of majors in arts than smaller state universities. A good way to learn about these programs is to go to the university's website, and then find the specific webpage for their "school of fine arts".

There are several private "art institutes" or "music institutes" in Ohio that are schools entirely devoted to art like the Cleveland Institute of Art, or the Art Institute of Cincinnati. Oberlin College is another very well nationally respected arts and music school.

Another thing to consider about an arts school – other than its reputation – is its location. You might want to be in or near a big city like Cleveland, because you have easier access to museums, galleries, and theater. Cleveland does in fact have the most prestigeous museums, galleries, and theater in the state of Ohio – and some of the best in the country. So I would think that Cleveland State, Cleveland Institute of Art, and Case Western would be really good places to look at.

(We had to design a tea box using a description froma fake company our teacher gave us. The tea was called Typhoon Tea, it was to appeal to a 18-25 age group, it is a trendy drink that is safe but fits with the counter culture.)

Could I include these samples into a portfolio? Or are they not enough?

If you haven’t already, contact the school you are interested in to find out their specific admission requirements (such as number of pieces they expect to see). Your strongest piece is the tea box, followed by the environmental poster. The rest I would not include.

I'm also thinking about film or pre-med. I was thinking of going to an art school, too. But is it possible to enter a university with admittance weighing more on your art portfolio intending to major in art, and change the major later and still be in the same school?
I'm selective and want the better universities for my major (film, pre-med less), so I'm most considering UCLA or NYU. My grades aren't top-notch (esp. soph year's), though, one of the reasons I'm asking this question. The other reason is that I'm considering taking an intensive summer art program to create a better art portfolio. It won't leave me time to take a good summer film program, but I'm also considering a 1-week program from NYFA or UCLA.

Yes, it is possible to change your major from Art to another degree program within the same school. Obviously it depends where you go to school, and I would suggest anonymously asking someone at the school if this is possible. Provided you are not specifically going to an art institute, it shouldn't be too much of a problem though.

Art or Art History are both generally contained in a school's College of Arts and Sciences. If you were to major in Art in undergrad, at most colleges you would still be required to take a core curriculum of sciences and humanities, etc. Your art degree would still be a B.A. Obviously if you change your mind in regards to your major after your freshman year, it will be easier than switching after your sophomore year, although even then it would still be possible.

Ultimately depending on where you go, applying for art will grant you admission into Arts and Sciences, and even with a focus on your art portfolio, you will still have been accepted into this school. That scenario would be completely different however if you were to want to go into Engineering, Architecture, or an other field in a different School within the university.
