I was in Arizona and that when I first met her. I was enrolled in her martial arts school. And that was in 1996 and my parents were divorcing at the time. And I am now turning 23years old. And I am in contact with her. But I am a little scared to tell her that what she has done has helped me. And that I really look up to her. She was there when I was dealing with the girl to woman change. She was there to basically be a mom to me.
What can I do to tell her how much I looked up to her and I still look up to her to this day. I really do miss her.

What a beautiful meaningful relationship you had with her. Trust me, she got as much out of the friendship as you did. Write her a letter..and thank her for all she did to help you during that hard part of your life. She will respond and be grateful to you for your feelings. this may up start that relationship again to some degree.. Good for you that you had someone to help…♥ ♥
Never ever be afraid to say "thank you"!

AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHA…

hold on let me do some research to double check a story I have….

in short…….. Don't do it

the students ( 300 of them I think) won this case against the school….
its reputation was severely damaged even though it DIDN'T have a reputation in the professional employment world.

their degrees didn't do them any good when in the interviewing session when trying to find a job.

The lawsuit was filed on June 30, 1999 by the Houston-based law firm of Fleming & Associates, L.L.P. in coordination with the law firm of Mike O'Brien, P.C., and the law offices of David B. Black.

In the suit, the students allege they were defrauded by their school and its parent companies, the Art Institutes International, Inc. and Education Management Corporation, Inc. The students allege that the school misrepresented the quality of its instructors, equipment and the degrees offered.

The Art Institute of Houston is a subsidiary of parent company Education Management Corporation

UCLA and UC Berkelely have about the same level of difficulty of being accepted to. Compared to the other schools you listed, these two are probably the hardest to get into. However, if you are planning on getting into engineering, UC Berkeley has the better program and professorial staff. Latter is equal to, if not only slightly inferior to that of Stanford insofar as engineering is concerned. However, comparing the costs of a Cal and Stanford education, many agree that Cal is better dollar for dollar, costing only about half of that of Stanford's. Cal has as many nobel prize winning professors as Stanford, a feat not shared by UCLA. Also, Cal is still arguably the best public university in the world, which makes it a better choice than UCLA, most especially in the engineering field. Both of my two kids are Cal students – one already a graduate, and the other a junior come August. And I know how difficult it was for them to get into Cal. For example, my daughter was valedictorian of her h.s. graduating class, president of the student council, had honors and AP classes, and was also a tennis player in h.s. Still. she barely made it to Cal. The lesson: not only does Cal look at GPAs. It also looks at success potentials outside of GPAs, ie. meaningful extra-curricular involvements. My son was in the top ten of his class, had lots of honors and AP classes, was in the student government, played football, and was in an elite choral group and jazz ensemble of his h.s. that played in London, Canada, and NYC. Still, he barely made it to Cal. Cal is tough, but tops. Its students are well-rounded. So go Cal. But build up your extra-curricular portfolio. God bless your goals.

Hello. I am a current college student in a Florida community college. I am getting ready to finish up my A.A. degree and I am wondering what my chances are of getting into a good business school in the U.S. I have realized that in the business world the better the college you go to the better the job prospects are for you in the future (in most cases). Here is a little bit about myself to give you an idea how to answer my question. I thank everyone who gives a mature answer
My GPA is 3.3 (i know kinda low) but should be 3.4 my graduation.
I am a member of my schools Phi Theta Kappa honors society.
I train in mixed martial arts which is my passion; it is something I have been doing consistently since I was in the 8th grade. I know I am not really a member of many clubs in my school and that is due to the amount of time I dedicate to this sport. Where I am going with this is do college admissions look at this favorably, the time a dedication that you dedicate to something should mean something to them.
A few other factors about myself personally are; that I am hispanic and I am an epileptic, anyone that has to say anything about my epilepsy and competing in mixed martial arts can keep their comments to their selves. I mainly train in Brazilian Ju Jitsu and Olympic style Wrestling so I am not constantly getting my head pounded. I was diagnosed with epilepsy my senior year of high school and it has been hard for me not to train in the martial arts so I just dedicated myself to the style that involves the least amount of head contact. Lol ok enough of that I seem to be rambling on here. I hope you have been able to see some of who I am and can give me educated advice on what I should do. Also what colleges I can look to get into. Also some college’s I would like to get into are………….
University of Florida***
University of Miami***
Arizona State University***
UCLA***
USC***
University of Texas at Austin***
University of Arizona***
University of Michigan***
UNC at Chapel Hill
Penn State
Boston University
University of Maryland
University of Richmond
UC Berkley
USD***
Florida International University***
Rollins College

I put a few colleges up that I probably don’t have any shot at but if anyone knows of anything I could do to beef up my resume to get into something close then I’m all ears!:) Also another important fact lol my major would be in Finance, International Finance, or International Business. My preprofessional GPA so far is 3.5 after this semester should be 3.7.

Also I have 3 W’s on my transcript.:\
Another thing would one of those college admission coaches help? I heard of some stories of people with good activities and community service getting accepted into top schools despite the fact that they had a lower GPA.
Another thing, would a study abroad business program look good for these schools, I was looking at the Global Semesters Abroad Business Program, London, Paris, New Delhi, Bangalore, Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong. The program is unique because it travels to all these countries while you study international business material for college credit.
In case you all haven’t realized I would like to have a career in international business.
Thank you again to anyone who gives me some good answers here

Well, UC Berkeley is going to be pretty hard for out of state students because they tend to favor California Community College transfers (same goes for UCLA) Univ Michigan is hard to get into also. Any kind of business is pretty popular over there.

I think your best shots are Penn State, FIU, Univ of Richmond, both Arizonas, UT Austin, and maybe Maryland, Boston U, USC and UNC. Your community college might have some kind of transfer guarantee with Univ of Florida, so i would suggest looking into that.

you should still apply to all of them cuz you would never know which one will accept you.

I've been offered substantial scholarships (full tuition plus a few thousand per year) to all of these schools. Without these scholarships I would never have thought of going to any of them at all, but financial necessity and a mediocre GPA that will pretty much cripple my chances of getting merit scholrships at even the small liberal arts colleges I would much rather go to has forced me to seriously consider these state schools.
I want to major in English Lit/ Writing and Philosophy, and get the best education I can, which leads to my interest in the quality of these school's honors programs.

I don't care about a school's party scene nor the ranking of its football team.

So far for each school:
Nebraska: Already been accepted, but I'm not excited about it.
U Arizona: Submitted my app, will visit in March becasue they're giving me an nearly all-expense paid trip to visit for 2 days.
Arizona State: considering applying. They claim their Barret Honors College is really good.
I'm from California so I don't know much about the academic climate at amy of these schools. The websites can only tell me so much… so any info on any of these schools will help. Thanks.
And I'm guaranteed admission to the U Arizona's honors college when I'm accepted to the University itself. And I don't think gaining admittance to the honors college at any of the schools would be a problem, since have a 2030 SAT and 30 ACT, with really high scores in the reading sections.

Arizona State is probably the best of the three as far as the strength of their English departments. Also, Tempe is a lovely town.

When I arrived the Sensei started talking to me between the differences between the more popular Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and the one he teaches which is Danzan Ryu Jujitsu, he then told me he is a 3rd Dan Black Belt, he drives to Arizona a couple of times a month to further his knowledge from his Sensei who is an 8th Dan. He then grabbed my wrist and asked me to get out of it, then he showed me an easier escape using leverage.

He then asked me why I wanted to join his school, and told me it takes the average person 6 years to get their black belt because of their busy lives, but if I am dedicated it would take me about 3 years He encouraged me to stay and watch the 2 hour session which began with the class throwing themselves in different ways and directions, then they started throwing each other. They then began performing self defense escapes and did sparring as well where they threw each other to the ground and did ground fighting where it always ended with someone tapping real quick out. The Sensei also did a massage on a student which is a healing technique which he says is also part of the Art.

Overall it was pretty hands on and required alot of stretching, the price is $40 a month for two 2 hour classes a week. He also told me of how a past student of his defended himself against a knife attack after taken only one day of classes, he also mentioned that a past student switched to a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu academy only to beat all their green belts which is what he was and stood up well against their brown belts. I also saw his credentials online www.ajjf.org

Danzan Ryu is a very good Jujutsu style. Henry Okazaki not only studied Jujutsu in Japan and Hawaii but also cross trained in may different arts.

I would definitely study Danzan Ryu.

The guy still trains under his teacher which means he is always expanding his knowledge for the sake of his students.

Go for it.
